This Regal Hepplewhite round planter is a new reproduction of a style made popular during the late 1700s. The Hepplewhite period began as early as 1760 by a man named George Hepplewhite who made furniture in London. He was a leader of the reaction toward delicacy of line and proportion in home furnishings. He worked along with other furniture designers such as Robert and James Adam producing furniture of their own design. The round planter box is decorated with swags, festoons, rope edge, acanthus leaf , reeded edges, beaded edges and finishes with slender tapered legs. The finish is a warm nutty brown mahogany stain, hand rubbed, satin smooth. |
