This solid mahogany umbrella, hat, hall stand is a new reproduction of a style made popular during the Victorian period. Victorian refers to a time period rather than a particular style. The Victorian period fell between 1837 through 1901. The industrial revolution allowed for the mass production of furniture and styles from earlier periods were drawn upon. Heavy ornamentation is a hallmark of the Victorian period. The hall stand begins with an broken arch crown and center finial. The beveled mirror is flanked by solid brass coat \ hat hooks and has more carved acanthus leaves and flowers surrounding it. The solid mahogany hand dovetail drawer glides easily above the raised panel cupboard doors, which open to reveal a vast storage space and has umbrella holders on either side with the stick and ball pattern. This umbrella hall stand is finished is rich antique brown stain and the wood used is solid mahogany. |
