This solid mahogany umbrella hall stand is a new
reproduction of a style made popular during the Victorian period. Victorian
refers to a time period rather than a particular style. The Victorian period
fell between 1837 through 1901. The industrial revolution allowed for the mass
production of furniture and styles from earlier periods were drawn upon. Heavy
ornamentation is a hallmark of the Victorian period. The stand begins with an
acanthus leaf and flower carved crown with two finials at the sides. Further
below there is the stick and ball pattern. The beveled mirror is flanked by
solid brass coat \ hat hooks and has more carved acanthus leaves and flowers
below. The solid mahogany hand dovetail drawer glides easily above the raised
panel cupboard door, which opens to reveal a vast storage space and has umbrella
holders on either side. This umbrella hall stand is finished is rich antique brown stain
and the wood used is solid mahogany. |
