This solid mahogany ball and claw tea table is a new reproduction of a style made popular by Thomas Chippendale during the 1700's. Thomas Chippendale was a furniture maker and master craftsman and his furniture designs were based on variations of previously published English, French and Chinese designs. As shown in pictures, the table has a removable tea tray surrounded by popular Chinese designs that were Chippendales favorite. The rope edge is finely hand carved and begins in the middle of each table edge and goes opposite directions. The cabriole leg have acanthus leaf carved knees and finish with ball and claw feet. This Chippendale ball & claw tea table is finished a rich deep mahogany stain and the wood used is solid mahogany. |
