This solid mahogany, Louis XV style, Bergere chair, is a new reproduction of a style made popular during the reign of King Louis XV in France. Louis XV style furniture such as this chair is characterized by elegant, curvilnear lines, excellent craftsmanship and the use of classically inspired decorative motifs. This chair has a curved balloon back which is crowned with an acanthus flower and leaf motif, a rope edge, and is generously padded and upholstered. The serpentine front seat has curved sides, curved back, and is padded and upholstered over webbing. The legs are decorated with leaf carvings and Hyacinth flower carved corners. The fabric is an off white, Florentine pattern. This Louis XV style bergere arm chair is finished in an antique brown mahogany stain and the wood used is solid mahogany. It is commonly used as a living room arm chair. |
