This solid mahogany boudoir chair is a new
reproduction of a style made popular during the late 1700s'. The oval back is
crowned with acanthus leaf and flower carvings and surrounded with a braided
rope molding. The acanthus leaf carving begins again at the seat back stalks and
continues at the top of the cabriole legs. The seat top is decorated with a
beaded edge and an overstuffed seat cushion. The apron has deep crisp drapery
carvings that join the cabriole legs with acanthus leaf carved knees and finish
with Flemish feet. The fabric is a Florentine background over brilliant colour
stripes. The style Boudoir refers to a small room, especially if pleasant, or
elegantly furnished, to which a lady or a gentleman may retire to be alone, or
to receive intimate friends in a private room. This Boudoir Chair has been finished in
an antique brown mahogany stain and the wood used is solid mahogany. |
